Dr. Campbell joined Carolina Spine and Neurosurgery Center in April 2020. He received his BS degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Nevada, Reno NV and did his Medical School at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Both his Internship and Residency was done at Wake Forest Baptist Health, Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Wesley C Fowler III, MD, is a 1995 honors graduate from Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University Winston-Salem, NC). He did his internship in surgery, as well as a residency in neurosurgery, at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. Dr. Fowler completed a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology Research at Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (Chapel Hill, NC) and a Fellowship in Oncology Research at Cambridge University in Cambridge, England.

Dr. Loomis has been with CSNC since 1982 and is one of the senior-most neurosurgeons on staff. Dr. Loomis graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1976 and completed a residency at Clarian Health Partners in Indianapolis, IN. He has also completed additional studies in the fields of micro-neurosurgery and neuropathology. He has served as both Chief of Surgery and Chief of Neurosurgery, Trauma Section for Mission Hospitals. In 2008, Dr. Loomis received a Patient’s Choice Award from Vitals.com.

Neurosurgeon

Dr. Lytle is a 1997 graduate from the University of Alabama School of Medicine (Birmingham, AL). He completed both a surgery internship and residency in neurosurgery at Washington University (St. Louis, MO.). Dr. Lytle pursued further study in the field of neurological surgery at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. When he is not at work, Dr. Lytle enjoys spending time at home with his family or traveling and snow skiing.

Dr. Steenland has been with CSNC since 2014, joining the practice shortly after completing his term as Chief Resident of neurosurgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Medical School. While at UNC, Dr. Steenland also served an internship in general surgery and earned a Master’s Degree in Health Policy & Management. An avid runner and biker, he has completed six marathons, six triathalons and a cross-country bike trip.

Dr. Gooch has been with CSNC since 2009. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine (Charlottesville, VA.) and served his internship in General Surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center (Lexington KY). Dr. Gooch then served in the United States Air Force, while serving, he served as Assistant Chief of Emergency Services at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center, and a Spine Surgery Fellowship at the world renowned Maryland Spinal Reconstructive Surgery (Baltimore, MD).

Dr. Hoski has been with CSNC since 2009 and has cared for the residents of western North Carolina since 1992. Originally from Gross Pointe Farms, Michigan, Dr. Hoski earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI). He then traveled south to the University of South Florida in Tampa where he completed a rotational internship, followed by his residency in orthopedic surgery. In 1991, he also completed a Fellowship in Spine Surgery at the University of Miami and Miami Children’s Hospital (Miami, FL).

A native of St. Croix Falls, WI, Dr. Moody earned his medical degree in 1987 from Georgetown University Medical School (Washington, DC). After a transitional internship at University of Arizona Maricopa Medical Center, he remained in Phoenix to complete a four-year residency in orthopedic surgery. In 1992, Dr. Moody and his wife, moved to Asheville with their growing family so that he could complete a fellowship in spine surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Cheryl Henson, MPAS, PA-C, ATC, is a nationally certified Physician Assistant who comes to Carolina Spine and Neurosurgery Center to work with our physiatry team. Her background has been in Orthopaedic surgery and Oncology. She earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida. Prior to her Physician Assistant studies, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise and Sports Science, with an emphasis in Athletic Training from East Carolina University. Cheryl is a member of the Pain Society of the Carolinas, the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants. Cheryl is originally from Fayetteville, NC, and lived in Florida for the past 19 years. She enjoys outdoor activities, supports local organic farms and restaurants, and has a passion for traveling

In addition to working with CSNC patients, Donna has, in her spare time, also partnered with the Asheville Tennis Association, offering a Yoga for Tennis Players program.

Roger earned his BS degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina at ChapelHill in 1976 and a Masters of Public Health Administration in 1989. Roger completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2009. He has been with CSNC since 2001.
