Neurosurgeon

Dr. Wesley C Fowler III, MD, is one of a handful of Neuropsychiatry Specialist in western North Carolina. He is a 1995 honors graduate from Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University Winston-Salem, NC). He did his internship in surgery, as well as a residency in neurosurgery, at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. Dr. Fowler completed a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology Research at Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (Chapel Hill, NC) and a Fellowship in Oncology Research at Cambridge University in Cambridge, England.

Lauren holds a BS in Biology (Indiana University) and a Masters degree in medical science (Arcadia University). Neurosurgeon

Dr. Loomis has been with CSNC since 1982 and is one of the senior-most neurosurgeons on staff. Dr. Loomis graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1976 and completed a residency at Clarian Health Partners in Indianapolis, IN. He has also completed additional studies in the fields of micro-neurosurgery and neuropathology. He has served as both Chief of Surgery and Chief of Neurosurgery, Trauma Section for Mission Hospitals. In 2008, Dr. Loomis received a Patient’s Choice Award from Vitals.com.

Lytle, Jr.

Neurosurgeon

Dr. Lytle Jr. is a 1997 graduate from the University of Alabama School of Medicine (Tuscaloosa, AL). He completed both a surgery internship and residency in neurosurgery at Washington University (St. Louis, MO.). Dr. Lytle pursued further study in the field of neurological surgery at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. When he is not at work, Dr. Lytle enjoys spending time at home with his family or traveling and snow skiing.

Dr. Rhoton graduated with honors in 1985 from the University Of Florida College Of Medicine, then stayed in Gainesville to complete his internship in surgery and a residency in neurosurgery. In addition, Dr. Rhoton went on to do three neurosurgery externships, at the Wake Forest University Bowman Gray School of Medicine (Winston Salem, NC), the Medical College of Wisconsin (Milwaukee, WI) and the University of Utah (Salt Lake City, UT).

Dr. Steenland has been with CSNC since 2014, joining the practice shortly after completing his term as Chief Resident of neurosurgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Medical School. While at UNC, Dr. Steenland also served an internship in general surgery and earned a Master’s Degree in Health Policy & Management. An avid runner and biker, he has completed six marathons, six triathalons and a cross-country bike trip.

Dr. Gooch has been with CSNC since 2009. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine (Charlottesville, VA.) and served his internship in General Surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center (Lexington KY). Dr. Gooch then served in the United States Air Force, while serving, he served as Assistant Chief of Emergency Services at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center, and a Spine Surgery Fellowship at the world renowned Maryland Spinal Reconstructive Surgery (Baltimore, MD). <br>

Dr. Hoski has been with CSNC since 2009 and has cared for the residents of western North Carolina since 1992. Originally from Gross Pointe Farms, Michigan, Dr. Hoski earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI). He then traveled south to the University of South Florida in Tampa where he completed a rotational internship, followed by his residency in orthopedic surgery. In 1991, he also completed a Fellowship in Spine Surgery at the University of Miami and Miami Children’s Hospital (Miami, FL).

A native of St. Croix Falls, WI, Dr. Moody earned his medical degree in 1987 from Georgetown University Medical School (Washington, DC). After a transitional internship at University of Arizona Maricopa Medical Center, he remained in Phoenix to complete a four-year residency in orthopedic surgery. In 1992, Dr. Moody and his wife, Mary, moved to Asheville with their growing family so that he could complete a fellowship in spine surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

She also holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from Duke University (Durham, NC). When she’s away from the office, Meredith enjoys cycling, hiking, traveling, reading and spending time with family.

She later completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation from New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York, NY.

Dr. Troy joined CSNC in 2016. Prior to moving to Asheville, Dellene and her family lived in St. Louis, MO where she completed a Sports Medicine and Spine Fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine. She received her medical training at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011, followed by a traditional rotating internship at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, NJ. In addition, Dr. Troy was a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation resident at Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (New York, NY) and Resident Physician at NYU Langone Medical Center, also in New York City.

Gina received her BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center – Dallas (Dallas, TX) and earned her Masters of Sport Science in Sports Medicine degree from the United States Sports Academy (Daphne, AL ). She also holds a BA in Biology from Austin College (Sherman, TX). Gina is certified in several clinical modalities, including Blankenship FCE and Matheson FCE. She joined CSNC in after spending 21 years caring for patients in East Texas, including the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and Nacogdoches.

Donna graduated from University Of Connecticut School Of Medicine in 1996. She brings over 20 years of experienced as a physical therapist to Carolina Spine & Neurosurgery. In addition to working with CSNC patients, Donna has, in her spare time, also partnered with the Asheville Tennis Association, offering a Yoga for Tennis Players program.

Ryan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri (Columbia, MO) in 2005. He went on to study physical therapy and received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Western Carolina University in 2014. He joined CSNC in December 2014. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys whitewater kayaking, mountain and road biking, snowboarding, running, hiking, camping, and traveling.

Dr. Meade earned his BS degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina (Chapel, Hill, NC) in 1987 and a Masters of Public Health Administration, also from UNC, in 1989. Roger completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at UNC in 2009. He has been with CSNC since 2001.

Martha received her A.A. degree from South College (Asheville, NC) in 2010 and joined CSNC soon after. A compassionate and skilled physical therapist, she has clinical expertise in aquatic therapy, core stabilization therapy and geriatric rehabilitation. In addition, Martha has a passion for yoga and often incorporates hatha yoga in working with physical therapy patients.
